Pinned it. Did it.

Today, I wanted to share with you a few of my pinterest pins that I've personally tried and their outcomes. I know I always love to hear how some of the things on pinterest turn out for other people!

Baked Sliced Sweet Potatoes:

Can you say phenomenal? I could seriously eat this ALL THE TIME! It's much tastier and creamier than a plain ole' sweet potato and cooks much faster.

4th of July Nails:

So there's no tutorial for these but I decided to try them out myself. I didn't have any royal blue paint or red so I substituted with a aqua blue and pink. I didn't think they turned out too bad!

Chick-Fil-A Chicken Nuggets:

These turned out pretty good. Not the same as Chick-Fil-A's but good regardless. I didn't have the peanut oil to use for these so I used vegetable oil instead but Skyler and I both enjoyed them. You can find more on my experience making these HERE.

Ranch Roasted Red Potatoes:

One of my FAVORITE potato recipes. Seriously, I make this all the time. The one thing I do different is use actual olive oil instead of the olive oil spray. HIGHLY recommended. HERE'S my experience with it.

Cane's Dipping Sauce:

YUM! Tastes almost JUST like the original! I love making this to dip my chicken in! I made it HERE.

Do you have any tried and true pinterest pins? I'd love to hear how they turned out!

Dexter {our furry child} at almost 6 weeks

I have a confession.

I'm going to be one of THOSE puppy mommies.
You know.
The ones that constantly post pictures of their dog.
Constantly talk about their dog.
Bring their dog everywhere.
Pictures around the house of the dog.
Plans are already in the works for a scrapbook.
And the most awesome birthday parties.

So I apologize ahead of time.
You're going to hear a LOT about Dexter.
And see more pictures of him than you ever thought possible.
But that's ok.
Because he's the CUTEST. PUPPY. EVER.
Don't believe me?
I'll show you :)

Today I got the chance to go visit him! He's almost 6 weeks old now (born April 21)! We will be taking him home at 8 weeks. Actually, plan is to take him home Father's Day! That weekend is our 6 month anniversary too! Anyways... enough talking... PICTURES! Be prepared. There's a lot. And I'm only showing a small handful of the pics. I took like 125 pictures of him. Don't judge me.

This is Dexter with his brother. His brother is much larger than him! Dexter is on the right.

Dexter again on the right.

Dexter is on the left :)

I'm so ready to bring him home!

Ok. I'm done with the pictures! I promise!
Well, for now anyways ;)

Regrow Your Green Onions

I've recently discovered that you can regrow the green onions you buy at the store! And it's SUPER easy! Even those out there with a black thumb like me will find this easy to do!

Simply place the roots into a cup of water and place in a sunny area (mine is in my kitchen window sill). Then allow to grow! That's it! You'll need to periodically refresh the water, and ensure it stays filled. And they last so much longer than just tossing them in my fridge. I save a little money too by not having to purchase more green onions. It's been over a month now and they're still growing strong! I've been cutting mine into small pieces and freezing for future use.

I'm really interested in trying to find other things that I can easily regrow. I've heard you can do lettuce, garlic, potatoes, and more.

Do you know of anything easy to regrow? I'd love to hear about it!

Making the Most of a Small Space

The hot water heater in my house is in a small "room" in my kitchen. The heater itself takes up most of the space in the 3 x 3 foot area. I was able to find a narrow trashcan that barely fits in there too. And then my brooms and mops get tossed in there as well. Well it was pretty gross in there and way overdue for a makeover! So that's what I did! It's such a small space, but I knew I could maximize what I had to be able to more efficiently store things in there. Here's the before... be warned. It's pretty bad.

The walls were disgusting, the hot water heater needed a good scrubbing, and there was so much unused space! So after a good cleaning, I painted the walls, and had the husband hang some shelves we purchased at Lowes. And here's the "after" shot!

So much better! I even have a place for my aprons! I was able to fit our step ladder that was previously just hanging out by our fridge. And the broom and swiffer mop fit nicely in there.

The shelves are great to store excess toilet paper, cleaning supplies, and trash bags (which is great to have next to the trash can!).

I was so happy with the outcome and I don't feel so ashamed of the area when people have to go throw stuff away! I am able to take advantage of the small space so much better now!

Did You Know?

Did you know Google Reader is going away? It's pretty old news by now but I had no idea! So I'm in the process of trying out some new readers. I've seen many blogs that use BlogLovin' so that's what I'm trying now. Want to follow me? Click Here!

Have you found a new reader you like? Let me know!

You & Me Artwork {and a few other bedroom decorations}

So with the exception of the Wooden Wall Art, there is absolutely NO wall decorations in our bedroom. None. It is so plain in there! Plus, the theme is grey and white with yellow accents. And I've been itching to add a new color for a while now.

Anyways, I've had an idea for a while now for some art work to go over our bed. The song that Skyler and I danced to at our wedding was "You and Me" by Lifehouse. I wanted to incorporate that into our home. It was the perfect opportunity to bring in a new color... AQUA! It was really easy to do too. I took 3 12x12 blank canvases. I painted them first with aqua paint (took 2 coats). Then I found the font I wanted to use. I used Pea Ellie Bellie that you can find over at kevinandamanda.com (LOVE their site!). I printed it in a 300 something pt font. Then I flipped the papers over and colored over the back of the letters in a white colored pencil. When I flipped back over, I simply traced the letters on the canvases, which left a white outline that I needed to paint. Then came the fun part.... carefully painting the letters. It took about 30 minutes to paint all the letters, but it was totally worth it because I fell in LOVE!! It was even more amazing once I put it on the wall!

I absolutely ADORE the aqua in the room. It really brightens up the space! And I jazzed up some $16 lamps from Target with yellow ribbon and aqua flowers I got from Michaels.

Had to update my Wooden Wall Art with the new color too!

All the changes only took a few hours and I was beyond happy with the results. Skyler's response? "It looks nice." I told him I was going to need a little more enthusiasm than that. To which he replys, "It looks AMAZING Courtney! I'm so proud of you!" He's learning so well ;)

So.... What do you think?

Hello? Anyone Still There?

It's been a LONG time since I've posted on here. Mainly because life has been SO busy! Adjusting to being married is soooo different! I've been used to living alone, cooking for just me, caring for just me for years and now there's someone else here with me! But marriage has been great! I never wash laundry anymore! Or take out the trash. I must admit... it's nice!

I have noticed something though. When we were dating, everyone wanted to know when we were gonna get engaged. When we got engaged, everyone wanted to know when we were getting married. Now that we're married, everyone wants to know when we are gonna have a baby. Which, for the record, is years away! But every little thing I say, everyone takes as a pregnancy symptom. "Ugh, my head hurts." "Are you pregnant?" "My stomach just doesn't feel good today." "Are you pregnant?" "My ankle hurts." "Are you pregnant?" Attention world. I, Courtney, am not pregnant! I promise to tell you if I am. :)

We are adding a new member to our family... our furry little baby! Everyone meet Dexter! He's a miniature dachshund. He will be joining our family in a few more weeks! This is him at 2 weeks old (and on my birthday!)

I can't wait! I may be going to see him sometime next week! I'm gonna bring a towel for the breeder to leave in the dogs area so we have something that smells familiar to him when we bring him home. Talked with her today and she said he's doing great and started on soft dog food today!

Anyways... I've really missed blogging! And I've especially missed all of you! What's new? Any exciting news from any of you out there?

Be looking for new stuff on here soon!
