Whew! So moving into and remodeling a house is TOUGH STUFF! It is coming along nicely though. Still, a WHOLE lot of work left!
Here's the progress of the living room so far...
So the living room is open to the kitchen. So I knew whatever colors I chose would have to coordinate with my kitchen too.
I asked you guys on what to do with the paneling and a lot of you mentioned just painting it. So that's what I decided to do. First things first, kiltzing EVERYTHING!
I have come to a conclusion. I HATE kitlzing! Maybe it's because I know that I'm just going to be painting over it. I know it's an important step but still.
So please ignore the EXTREME mess. It looks much better now I promise. And you might not can see but we ripped up the HORRIBLE vinyl linoleum junk in the kitchen. All. THREE. Layers. Yep. Three horribly nasty layers. I actually almost threw up while we pulled it up.
I was so grateful to have my parents, brother, friends, and my parents friends (and little kids!) helping me with this. It's so overwhelming looking at everything that needs to be done and not knowing where to start.
So I finally decided on a color scheme. I went with brown and a teal/aqua color. The aqua will tie in with my kitchen. And here's the painted room... with my new furniture that I LOVE! Well, my mom was still touch up painting but you get the general idea.
I LOVE it! And I was going to rent a steam cleaner but I ended up getting the Bissell ProHeat 2x and it was TOTALLY worth it! I think it was about $188 at Walmart. I would definitely recommend it. It dries fast, gets most of the stains out. My carpet looks almost brand new! Saved me from having to replace it all!
Lets look at these one after another, before and after:
Now I just need to fill those shelves with stuff! I ordered a 55 inch TV that I want to mount over the fireplace. But that may have to wait until winter until I see how hot the fireplace gets. It may just sit on the ledge of the fireplace for now.
Anyone got any advice on mounting on brick?
So that's my progress for now. I'll try to keep you guys updated!
