Confession Time

Ok... I'm going to be honest with you guys...

I have a SERIOUS blogging pet peeve.

I get a little REALLY annoyed with people who are all about followers. You know those people.

"I followed you now you have to come follow me"

(And I TOTALLY do not have a problem with people leaving links to their blog! I just don't feel like I'm being guilted into going to their blog)

And then you go to their blog and they have nothing but junk on their blog.

I actually had someone leave a comment the other day that said if I went to their blog and became a follower, AND left my blog URL, then they would come follow me back. And that irked me. I did actually go and check out their blog but it was NOTHING I enjoyed.

If you have a blog with things I'm interested in, sure, I'll follow you. But if you just post the bloghops you entered, nope, not interested.

Don't get me wrong, I LOVE finding new blogs! Just not ones who only care about having 5 billion followers and have nothing good to actually post about.

I'm a crafty, cooking, photo kind of gal... so naturally I'm attracted to those kinds of blogs :)

Ok, I'm done ranting...

So how do you feel about those kinds of bloggers?

I feel like it's not a good way to develop a following base. I want people to follow me because they like my content, which is the exact reason I follow people.
Great post, it voiced my thoughts exactly.

Helloooo! So glad I stumbled on your blog. It looks right up my alley! Glad you say what you are thinking. I am actually looking for 5 1/2 billion followers..... haha! Only teasing. I agree that it seems very pointless to blog just to get followers... Then again, I've never understood the way all the other Sheeple think!

HAHAHAHA This is why I don't have many followers. I WILL NOT follow blogs I don't WANT to follow and I get sick of all of the drama that is involved some times when building up followers. If you want to follow me awesome! I only want people to follow me who ENJOY reading my blog and not someone who just wants more followers. LAME

I am soooo with you on that! One of my pet peeves is getting that comment from someone that tells me how they followed me and that I should follow them back. Or even better are the ones that come and leave a comment about how they are in the running for some contest and that I should vote for them. Hell-o I don't even know you and you didn't even comment about my content, just that I should vote for you? Sure I enjoy having followers, but I only want the ones that will actually read my content...I only want ones that will engage with me in conversation. Ugh... (done ranting)

I agree! Blogging should be because you enjoy it and want to share it with anyone who cares enough to read it. Demanding people follow your blog to me takes the enjoyment out of it.

Ok, good! I thought I was the only one that irked.

I actually had someone once...they were a featured blog on a hop. I didn't follow them. Know why? Google screwed up when I went to, I rebooted, and forgot.

She came to my blog and left a comment...ON A HAPPY BIRTHDAY POST FOR ANOTHER BLOGGER..."You didn't follow everyone you were supposed to. You need to follow me."

I kid you not. I emailed her and was polite but told her I thought that was out of line. She responded with "Well, I figured you moderated your comments."

I was livid, quite frankly.

I have a long list of things other bloggers do that irk me, and I'm half tempted to post it one day.

Completely agree! Early on in my blogging I hosted a giveaway for CSN - and being a follower was a requirement I set for entry. Totally regret that because somehow I ended up on an online contest link up & gained tons of hand-out vultures as followers! LOL Sure, I have a good number on the sidebar but how many are actually followers, you know? I follow you because I like you! Thanks for the great content.

I used to do a lot of follower swap parties, but toned it down a little. I want people to stalk me because they love me and are dying to read each and every single word I write, not because I guilted them into it by following them. :)

I just read that you're a NICU nurse. That's a great job. My youngest was in the NICU for 66 days. Born with gastroschisis, and then had pyloric stenosis and hiatal hernia. 6 surgeries, ugh. But those nurses made it a little less scary. <3

I feel exactly the same, I hate being guilted into following. That's not the point of a blog! I did lots of blog hopping at first but I look back and see it wasn't the best idea. Just like you, I want them to follow because they like what the see! So happy you posted this!

TOTALLY agree! Nothing worse than having to go through and "unfollow' because you stupidly began reading a lame one that's now filling up your inbox. (Don't worry, your blog doesn't fall into this category for me :-) Thanks for putting this out there!

SO true! Thanks for being honest about it!

TOTALLY agree with this! I participate in Blog Hops here & there, but I will only follow the ones I am interested in. And if I *have* to follow you & don't like what's on your blog, then forget it. I want to blog with integrity!
