I started on this a few weeks ago, not really knowing where I wanted it to go. You see, a few years back I purchased one of those decorate it yourself mirrors at Micheals. It's basically been sitting in a drawer in my room for years now. So I decided it was time to do something with it. I didn't know what I wanted, but I figured I'd just start somewhere and see where it took me.
I started by taking out the mirror part and painting the whole thing a bluish color. I thought about maybe painting some design or something on it, but found some cute scrapbook paper I thought would look good.
So I carefully cut out some of the scrapbook paper I'd chosen to fit the mirror. This was pretty tough. I didn't want overlapping seams so I had to carefully cut out the center. Then I mod-podged it on. I thought about adding more stuff but decided to leave it as it is. So it's not so cluttered. So then I also mod-podged the entire thing.
The last thing I did was attack it with some sandpaper. Just to distress it up a bit.
And here it is... My quick and easy distressed scrapbook mirror :)

I'm thinking this would be great to put in my locker at work.
Speaking of work, I'm really excited about starting on Monday. It's just general orientation on Monday. You know, getting the name badge. How to use the name badge. How much it costs to get a new name badge. What to do in an emergency. Filling out so much paperwork my hand falls off. Yea, that kind of stuff.
But Tuesday is clinical orientation. I even get to wear my scrubs! Well pants anyways. I have to get my top from the hospital- security reasons. This makes sure that nobody can just walk in in scrubs and impersonate hospital personnel. Pretty smart if you ask me. So my baby blue pants and a white shirt it is for me!
Then I guess after that, I'll actually start with my preceptor (someone I'll work with and shadow mostly for my 14 weeks of orientation. They help me acclimate to the unit). I'm really excited!
So I hope you have a great week!
