Felt Poppy Hairclip Tutorial

So have you seen those ADORABLE felt poppy hair pieces out there? I am in LOVE with them! So I decided to make a few of my own and share my tutorial process with you.

I bought some felt sheets from Walmart. They were like 20 cents a piece. One sheet would make SEVERAL poppies.

Then I cut some circles. 3 about does it. I used the lid of my Mod-Podge as a rough estimate for size. They don't have to be perfect circles. Imperfection actually makes them cuter in my opinion :)

Then I got my good friend Mr. Cherry Blossom candle. Yea, we've been through several hurricane seasons together when the power goes out and stuff. Plus, he likes to help with my crafty stuff and make my room smell good at the same time. Yea, we're pretty tight.

Bring the edge of the circle near the flame. If you look close, you'll see the felt melting a little. Only keep it there for a second or so. You want the edges to harden a little.

This is what happens if you hold it in the flame. It blackens the fabric. Not too noticeable on dark colors but definitely shows on light ones.

I sewed a small pearl bead to the center and voila! A poppy hairpiece!

I glued a bobby pin to the back so I can slip it into my hair.

I also made another one in brown with larger pearl beads.

A picture of both:

Well, that's my post for today! Have a great week and be getting your recipes ready for What's Cooking Wednesday!
