Kicking Up Your Baked Beans

Beans, beans, they're good for your heart.
The more you eat the more you...

*snicker* *snicker*

Ok, now that the 8 year old in me got that out of my system...
When I was younger, my family and I used to always go over to my parent's friends house to eat. The mom would take a simple can of baked beans and add her own flavorings to make them better. I could never remember what she did. So I did a little looking around online and kind of made up my own "baked beans enhancement". This isn't really an "original" recipe because I'm sure plenty of people do this too. But I thought I'd share a "not-so-homemade" way of making some YUMMY baked beans.

I started with a can of Bush's Maple Cured Bacon Baked Beans. This already has some great flavors and bacon. If you're using regular baked beans, I would cook some bacon and toss it in. But this is the lazy way :)

I added about 1 tablespoon of regular mustard, 1/4 cup of ketchup, and about 3 tablespoons of brown sugar. That's it! They tasted really yummy! And, of course, I had to "test-taste" them every few minutes or so to make sure the flavor was still there ;)

So there you have it... the not-so-homemade way of making baked beans! Enjoy!
